About Ladan Razavi, PMHNP-BC

Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner | 20+ Years in Neonatal & Perinatal Care

I am a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over two decades of experience as a Registered Nurse in high-acuity hospital settings, primarily in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). My work has centered on caring for fragile newborns and supporting families through some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

Over the years, I witnessed how deeply emotional stress, anxiety, and trauma can impact both physical health and family dynamics. This led me to dedicate my practice to mental health— with a special interest in perinatal mental health, mood and anxiety disorders, and the emotional well-being of parents and caregivers.

Clinical Background

My career began in medical-surgical nursing and quickly evolved into intensive care roles. I have extensive experience in:

  • Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) — supporting premature and critically ill newborns.
  • Emergency and acute care — responding to urgent and complex medical needs.
  • Family-centered care — helping parents navigate fear, grief, and uncertainty.

Alongside my clinical work, I have been actively involved in developing practice guidelines, mentoring staff, and promoting trauma-informed, compassionate care throughout my teams.

What this means for you: I understand how medical, emotional, and family stressors intersect—and I bring that perspective into every mental health visit.

Education & Training

  • PMHNP-BC – Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
  • MSN, CNS – Master of Science in Nursing & Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • BS – Bachelor of Science in Social Science

My training bridges both medical and psychological perspectives, allowing me to approach each person as a whole—mind, body, and environment—not just a diagnosis.

Approach to Care

I blend evidence-based psychiatric treatment with warmth, curiosity, and respect for each person’s values, culture, and lived experience.

How I Work With Patients

My style is collaborative, gentle, and structured. I believe people do best when they feel safe, deeply heard, and given clear information about their options. During our work together, you can expect:

Trauma-informed care I move at your pace and pay close attention to emotional and physical safety.
Curiosity over judgment Your story matters. I approach your experiences with openness, not assumptions.
Thoughtful medication use When medication is indicated, we discuss benefits, risks, and alternatives together.

I value collaboration with therapists, primary care clinicians, OB-GYNs, pediatricians, and other providers involved in your care—always with your consent and preferences at the center.

Ready to take the next step?
I welcome individuals who are new to psychiatric care, as well as those who are seeking a more thoughtful, relational approach after past experiences that didn’t feel like a good fit.
